Aquatic Plant Demonstration
George & Steven Lo Aqua Forest Aquarium,
San Francisco June 28, 2009
We were pleased to invite the owners of
Aqua Forest Aquarium to join us in our store for the day. They spent
four hours meeting customers and talking about various aspects of
freshwater planted aquaria in an informal setting.

That evening, Steven and
George gave a presentation to 25 of our guests on the Japanese (ADA)
method of aquarium set-up and layout techniques.

Following the ADA method they
start with a thin layer of Bacter 100, Clear Super, and Tourmaline BC.
These additives work in unison with the composition of the substrate to
establish the chemistry and biology of the aquarium. Steven & George did
point out that this is one of many different ways to set up a freshwater
planted tank but it is the method they have found to be most
successful.

The ADA products Penac P and
Penac W are then added, followed by power sand then the soil
(substrate).

Once the substrate system was in place they
proceeded to discuss layout techniques for selecting and positioning
wood and rocks.

They very quickly began to plant the
tank while taking questions from the attendees. The plants were misted
in the tank as they planted them so that everything stayed moist. About
1 hour was spent prior to the demonstration trimming and preparing the
plants to go in the tank. According to the brothers, this is an
important step that many hobbyists overlook when setting up a layout.

Once the layout was finished they graciously took
questions on a variety topics from audience members. Then it was off on
a plane back to San Francisco to be ready for work the next day.

From everyone at AquaTouch we would
like to thank our customers for coming out for this event and to Steven
and George for taking time out of their busy schedule to except our
invitation!
